Orthotics

Orthotists design and fit external devices—such as braces and splints—to support movement, correct deformities, and reduce discomfort. Working as part of a medical team, they provide care for patients of all ages with a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, cerebral palsy, stroke, spina bifida, scoliosis, and traumatic injuries.

These specialists create custom-fitted devices for individuals with spine or limb injuries, as well as those with foot, limb, or spinal deformities. By tailoring each orthotic device to a patient’s unique needs, orthotists help improve mobility, function, and overall quality of life.
